HOMOEOPATHIC REMEDIES FOR TOOTHACHE
- Toothache, also known as dental pain, is pain in the teeth
and/or their supporting structures, caused by dental diseases or pain referred
to the teeth by non-dental diseases.
- Tooth decay is the primary cause of toothaches for most
children and adults.
- The first sign of decay may be a sensation of pain when you
eat something sweet, very cold or very hot.
Other causes of toothache can include:-
- An accumulation of food and debris between your teeth,
especially if teeth have spacing between them.
- Infection at the root of the tooth or in the gums.
- Trauma to the tooth, including injury or grinding your
teeth.
- Sudden fracture of the tooth or tooth root.A split in the
tooth that occurs over time.Tooth eruption through the gums (teething).Sinus
infection that can be felt as pain in the teeth.A toothache often requires some
sort of treatment by your dentist.
HOMOEOPATHIC REMEDIES
PLANTAGO MAJOR
- Plantago is of help in cases where the teeth ache and are
sensitive.
- Teeth show caries and most persons requiring Plantago have increased salivation in their
mouth with toothache.
- Bad effects of excessive use of tobacco, especially the
mental anxiety; digging toothache and frequent attacks of sudden sneezing with
profuse, watery, bland coryza.
- Plantago also gives good results when there is a swelling of
cheeks along with toothache.
- Hollow cavities appear in the affected teeth.
- The pain radiating from teeth to ears is best controlled
with Plantago.
- At times the nerve pain in teeth can spread to eyes.
- In such reflex pain in eyes from teeth, Plantago plays a
wonderful role in controlling pain
- Insert a cotton swab drenched with Plantago Q in to the
tooth cavity
HECLA LAVA
- Hecla Lava is an excellent medicine for toothache that is
accompanied by swelling around the jaw.
- Hecla Lava can be taken in all the cases of toothache with
jaw swelling.
- Facial neuralgia or headache dependent on derangement of the
dental nerves; abscess of gums, injuries to alveolar process, diseases of
antrum Highmori, which are the causes of the toothache.
- Hecla Lava will relieve both the pain in teeth as well
reduce the swelling around jaw.
ACONITE
- Toothache from cold, or dry, cold winds, with throbbing on
one side.
- Cheeks red; congestion to head.
- Teeth sensitive to cold air.
- Bitter taste in the mouth
- Aconite cures toothache after a cold, produced by exposure
to cold west or easterly winds, with determination of blood to the head,
burning in the face, and frequent hard pulse.
- It is efficacious also for throbbing toothache confined to
one side and occupying the lower jaw, with redness of the cheek.
STAPHYSAGRIA
- Staphysagria is a very effective cure when any food or drink
excites the toothache just on touching the teeth.
- Toothache; during menses; sound as well as decayed teeth;
painful to touch of food or drink, but not from biting.
- Toothache, tooth turn black. The toothache may appear either
in decayed teeth or in sound teeth.
- The intake of cold drinks worsens the pain.
- Excessive saliva in mouth and bleeding from gums may also be
noted in a few patients.
SILICEA
- Silicea is the best remedy for toothache resulting from
abscess of root of teeth.
- The gums in all cases are swollen.
- Cheeks may also get swollen.
- Toothache worse in cold air and from taking cold water.
CHAMOMILLA
- Chamomilla, Patient turns irritable, mad and wild with
severe tooth pain.
- The pain in teeth is totally unbearable.
- The patient seems oversensitive to pain.
- Toothache which is most violent at night, more particularly
when the person sleeps on a feather-bed.
- It comes in paroxysms, does not attack any particular tooth;
in its milder form the toothache is a formicating, jerking pain, in its more
violent form it is a tearing pain, which, in its highest degree of intensity,
darts into the ear.
- Throbbing toothache, insupportable at night, and increased
by the warmth of the bed.
- Warm drinks and foods usually makes the condition worse.
- Mental agitation with toothache calls for the use of
Chamomilla.
KREOSOTUM
- Kreosotum, the pain is due to decayed teeth
- Toothache extending to the temples, and to the left side of
the face.
- Toothache with decayed teeth and scorbuted gums but no signs
of inflammation or gumboil.
MERCURIOUS SOL
- Teeth feel loose.
- Fall out, become black carious.
- Denuded of gum; painful on touch of tongue.
- There t is profuse saliva in mouth and offensive odor in
mouth.
- Pulsating jerking toothache, extending into ear and head.
- Worse at night, from warmth of bed.
- Merc Sol should be used when both hot and cold food worsen
the pain in teeth.
- Most of the times the crown of teeth is decayed while the
root is perfectly sound.
- Bleeding from gums is most often noticed.
- The patient may complain of looseness of teeth.
- Increased thirst for water may also be present.
PULSATILLA NIG
- In Pulsatilla toothache is due to taking anything warm in to
the mouth.
- Should be given when the toothache generally comes on in the
evening, and is accompanied by chilliness and paleness of the face.
- The pain is usually jerking or tearing; the toothache always
ceases entirely in the open air, but returns in a warm room.
- Pain is better by cold water, open air and from uncovering
HEPAR SULPH
- In Hepar sulph also the toothache is due to root abscess.
- Toothache after drinking cold things, or opening the mouth.
- Worse from biting teeth together.
- Offensive odor from the mouth.
- Here fever with chills is present along with pain and
swelling.
- Severe intolerance of any type of draft of air.
SPIGELIA
- Toothache from tobacco smoking.
- The pain is not seated in one tooth, but in an indefinite
number of teeth, especially in the anterior row.
- Pain is a flashing, not throbbing.
- Pain, darts even into the face, is generally felt only in
the day-time, less frequently at night.
- Pain is aggravated by air, cold water, eating, heat, and
abates during rest, or when tepid warmth is applied.
- It is attended with pallor and bloat of the face,
chilliness, palpitation of the heart, neuralgic pain in the face.
- Toothache when teeth are sound.
ARNICA
- Pain in teeth with soreness in gums that occurs after
filling of teeth.
- Here, Arnica act as an accurate pain relieving medicine.
- Toothache from wearing false teeth.
- Toothache, with swelling of cheek.
- It also causes pain in gums after teeth extraction.
HYPERICUM
- Hypericum is effective
for nerve pain following tooth filling procedures.
COFFEA
- Intermittent, jerking toothache.
- Pain relieved by holding ice-water in the mouth, but returns
when water becomes warm.
- Coffea is often indicated in the toothache of children and
of nervous people.
- Toothache, especially at night.
CALCAREA CARB
- Toothache caused by a current of cold air, or by drinking
cold liquids.
- Inclination to gnash the teeth, as in a chill.
- Difficult dentition.
- Toothache after menstruation.
- Bleeding of the gums; swelling.
- Tongue coated white.
- Toothache especially during pregnancy or at the period of
catamenia
- Congestion in the head, particularly at night.
- Swelling and bleeding of the gums.
SEPIA and MAGNESIUM CARB - Toothache during pregnancy
SEPIA
- Early decay of teeth, which feel dull; drawing toothache in
upper molars, extending to ear, especially at night.
- Beating and stitching pains, especially with patients of a
yellowish complexion; gums dark-red, swollen, painful, as if burned, bleeding
from slightest touch; swelling of cheeks, cough, and swelling of submaxillary
glands; toothache when coughing.
CHINA
- WHEN MOTHER PUTS BABE TO THE BREAST SHE GETS TOOTHACHE.
- Cannot bear touch, feels better by heat, especially in women
who had much haemorrhage during confinement.
OLEUM ANNI - Toothache better when pressing the teeth together
CHERIANTHUS
- Toothache due to cutting the wisdom teeth.
- Deafness, otorrhoea, nose stopped at night due to irritation
of cutting wisdom teeth.
